Editorial Policy
How we make money, how we stay independent, and what you should know
The Short Version
We earn money through affiliate commissions when you apply for credit cards through our links. This does not influence which cards we recommend. We recommend the best card for your situation, whether or not we earn a commission from it.
How We Earn Revenue
Affiliate Commissions
When you click an "Apply Now" link on our site and are approved for a credit card, the issuing bank or our affiliate partner may pay us a commission. This is our primary revenue source and is standard practice in the credit card comparison industry.
Commission amounts vary by card and bank. We do not disclose specific commission amounts, but we want you to know that this revenue stream exists.
Sponsored Content
Occasionally, banks or fintech companies may pay us to create content about their products. All sponsored content is clearly labeled with a "Sponsored" tag at the top of the page. Sponsored content undergoes the same editorial review as our independent content — we will not publish sponsored content that makes claims we don't believe are accurate.
Editorial Independence
Our editorial process is designed to prevent affiliate revenue from influencing recommendations:
- Recommendations come first, monetization second. We decide which cards to recommend based on our methodology (reward value, fee analysis, accessibility). Only after the editorial recommendation is finalized do we check if an affiliate link is available.
- We recommend cards we don't monetize. Many of our top recommendations (like the Amazon Pay ICICI card and IDFC FIRST Classic) are cards where we may not have direct affiliate relationships. We recommend them because they're genuinely the best options for certain users.
- We never recommend a card solely because it pays higher commission. If Card A is better for you but Card B pays us more, we recommend Card A.
- We disclose affiliate relationships.Every page with affiliate links includes a clear disclosure: "We may earn a commission if you apply through our links."
- We call out bad cards. Our salary guides include "Cards to Avoid" sections. Our comparisons include honest cons. If a popular card isn't worth its fee, we say so — even if the bank is an affiliate partner.
What We Will Never Do
- Recommend a card we don't believe is genuinely good for the stated audience
- Hide or downplay a card's weaknesses because of an affiliate relationship
- Rank cards based on commission rather than user value
- Publish sponsored content without clear labeling
- Provide personalized financial advice (we provide information, not advice)
- Guarantee credit card approval (approval depends on the bank's criteria, not us)
Important Disclaimers
Not Financial Advice
All content on PointsWallah is for informational and educational purposes only. We do not provide personalized financial advice. Credit card decisions should be based on your individual financial situation, and you should consult a qualified financial advisor if you have specific questions.
Accuracy
We make every effort to keep our information accurate and up-to-date. However, credit card terms, fees, reward structures, and benefits can change without notice. Always verify details on the bank's official website before applying.
No Guarantee of Approval
Clicking an affiliate link and applying for a card does not guarantee approval. Banks have their own eligibility criteria including income requirements, credit score thresholds, and existing relationship factors.
