Our Review
The Amex Platinum is not a card you justify on reward rate math alone. At 60K/year with no fee waiver, you need to value the experiential benefits — Taj Epicure membership (worth 15-20K alone), premium concierge, luxury brand access, and the unmatched international travel experience. The 10x on international spends is genuinely the best in India, making this the ideal card for frequent international travelers. MR point transfer flexibility (Marriott, Singapore Airlines, etc.) gives excellent redemption optionality. The honest test: if you spend 5L+ internationally per year and stay at Taj properties 3+ times, this card pays for itself. Otherwise, the HDFC Infinia gives you 90% of the benefits at 12.5K/year.
